How to Import Data
Data can get complicated quickly! If you want to import Data from a spreadsheet into Wathaga, then follow this guide, which should help you through the process.
To import data into Wathaga, you first need to create a Data Tool that matches the structure of the Data you want to import. For best results, when setting up the Data Tool, try to make sure the Data type matches the type of data you are planning to import. If it is a date, then choose the Date field type, etc.
Some important notes:
- Wathaga imports Excel files with the extension .xlsx. If you are using Google Sheets, you can download your file in this format.
- You must have a Submission Date column in your spreadsheet, and it should be the first column (column A)
- When importing files (video, images, audio, other files), the files are not actually imported at the moment in Wathaga. This may change in the future, but for now, it is not possible to import files this way. Our recommendation is to host those files in a separate file storage system, such as Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, or Dropbox. In the import file, use a link to the file (URL).
Once you have set up the Data Tool, you can then choose Import Data from the Data Tool Screen or from a Data Set that uses that Data Tool.
When you start the Import Data process, you will be given the option to select a File to Import or Download An Import Template. You will find it easier if you download the Import Template first and then match your data to the template, which shows examples of the data formatting you will need to follow.
Once you have matched your data to the format, you can save your file in XLSX format (Excel) and then go ahead and import the file.
